When buying a brand new bike, or new engine, do you trust the oil it came with? Do you ride it right away, or are you quick to replace the oil? Also, any other things you do when buying your bike to make it last longer?

The oil that comes in the newer bikes is pretty good. I believe Harley previously recommended changing the oil after 500 miles but now have extended it to 1000 miles. I would ride the first 1000 miles then change the oil, then again at 5000, then recommended intervals or at least once a year.

I still like to change oil at around 500. Any bits or pieces of engine "cast" material would be removed.
