Here in Michigan, you are required to wear some type of helmet. However, the law is undergoing a repeal, and it looks like it might get turned over. I wear a helmet whenever I ride, even on short trips.

Minnesota here. No law that you have to wear your helmet, only if you have your permit.

I try to force myself to wear mine wherever i go, though.

Yep, in NC they require a DOT approved helmet.

I usually wear a half helmet but it gets unbearably hot here and I sometimes ride without one. Oklahoma does not require riders to wear helmet if you have an endorsement and are over 18 years of age I think. I could be wrong about the age.

Here is the Maryland law

Maryland Motorcycle Helmet Law
In Maryland, all motorcycle drivers and passengers must wear a helmet. Additionally, all motorcycle operators must wear eye protection, unless the bike is equipped with a windscreen.

Helmets and eye protection must meet the standards established by Maryland's Administrator of Transportation, who approves safety gear and adopts/enforces standards and specifications for approval of safety gear. The Administrator publishes a list of all protective gear that is approved by name and type.

Because such standards are subject to change, it is advisable to check with the Administrator before driving or riding on a motorcycle in Maryland.

Both Helmets & protective eyewear are required for driver & passenger

Here's a good link that will give you info State by State, in case you are going to be riding thru a State other than where you are licensed.

In SC there are some helmet provisions for beginners. I dont wear one unless I go out of state. SC is surrounded by helmet states. GA and NC.
